A few days prior to laser hair removal, the patient shaves the treatment area(s). When the patient visits Jessica or Heather, he or she may be asked to wear special glasses to block out light from the laser that is harmful to the eyes. Based on each patient's hair type, skin type, and other factors, the laser is adjusted to optimize the laser hair removal procedure. The hand-held laser is then focused directly on the hair follicles to stop or reduce hair growth. There is very little discomfort associated with this procedure, and most patients enjoy an 80 to 90 percent reduction in hair growth.
